I come by it honestly...

The scooter life.

My dad was a dirt biking fool when I was little. I remember going to The Flying "P" Ranch in Weatherford with Mom, Dad & Rusty. We would even meet up with the Russell clan pretty often.

Notice my Dad is wearing a Flying "P" Ranch shirt... and Pearl Beer. Oh God. Memories!

I find it rather funny that my Dad isn't too keen on me riding a scooter. I mean... hell, he started it all. Its his fault. Sheesh! He should be glad that I ride safe & wear a helmet (no cut off shorts or titties.) Yep.

My Dad posted a few pictures on his facebook recently that proves my case. Here are his "self portraits" from his photography class at Odessa College...

I'm pretty sure that is the Husqvarna. I remember my Mom rode this one a lot. (I also remember how proud my Granny was of her Husqvarna sewing machine... but that is a whole new post... )

Here he is on the only street bike I remember. A Triumph Bonneville.

Oh, and to further prove my point. He posted this picture.

And this is what he said about it:
I had a brand new one of these. '74 Montesa VR 250.
I could go so fast...it would boogie through the woods at the world famous "Flying P Ranch" in Weatherford,TX. We had some really good times there. Too bad I'm too old for that kind of stuff now but Boy Howdy I used to go sooo Fast. (That is the way I remember it anyway.)

I just want to say "thanks Dad". I love the feel of the wind on my face.

Rally of Two?

My friend Ben has a Vespa too. Monday afternoon we were riding around the parking lot of B&N on our scooters and got the wild idea to take a road trip to Odessa.

Now I know that doesn't sound like much, but on a scooter ... it is a journey.

We left Midland at 9:30 this morning, we pulled into the Starbucks in Odessa at 10:10. 40 minute drive, not too bad at all. We drove 50 - 55 mpr most of the way and used the service road on 191.

I took my camera. I took pictures. I accidentally deleted all but one from the start of our trip.

Welcome to my new blog!

Hello everyone! I'm blogging again!

Its hard to believe I've been scootering for over a year now. I started on a Yamaha Zuma 50cc.

Now I ride a Vespa 150s. She's a beaut! She is orange! & She is loved!

I have put over 1000 miles on her & ride rain or shine.

Stay tuned for my many adventures in the Land of BIG Trucks. Its bound to be entertaining... and if you yourself scoot around Midland... look me up & we will terrorize the town!
