If you can't park it...

Don't freakin drive it!

Grrr... this pisses me off. Seriously, just because you are parking beside a scooter (or motorcycle for that matter) doesn't mean that you can straddle the line!

Old men love my scooter...

Anytime I am at the Post Office or HEB or just about anywhere, there is a very good chance that I will walk out to my scooter to find an old man looking it over. They usually say about the same thing:

"I had one like this when I was young..."
or
"I have always loved these..."
or
"I bet you get good gas mileage."

Its funny, and I just love it. My favorite part is in parting. They always tell me to be careful "out there" and make sure I wear a helmet. Ahhh.... the love of Grandpa's.

April Fool's Day...

Sue comes into my life.

Its total scooter love.

Yes... Its been forever since I updated my blog.

I was rear ended on my old 150S. Luckily I wasn't seriously hurt. Just a few bumps and bruises, but my Scooter was toast.

Doesn't look like too much damage does it? Apparently that is all part of the frame. The scooter was worth about $3,000, a new frame runs $5,000. Time for an upgrade!

For a brief moment I entertained the idea of getting a Harley or a Can Am Spider, but Justin at Yamaha informed me that I was *a scooter chick*. So I hit the Vespa website and started looking around. The "S" had a new paint job for 2011. I thought it was kinda cool.

Bill said it looked like a candy cane. That pretty much ruined it for me. LOL.
Then I thought, if I'm going to get a new scooter, why not upgrade? MORE POWER!

I remembered a GTS 300 Super that they had at Yamaha. I knew I wanted a bright color. No cream or sea foam for me. I wanted to be seen. Not that the orange scooter did me any good... but still! No blending in!

Guess what Vespa calls their red. DRAGON RED. That pretty much sold me.

I'm going to try my damnedest to keep up this blog. I'll use it to gloat about my MPG if nothing else!

Wash day

Bonus to owning a scooter... it takes all of 15-20 minutes to wash it.

It was a beautiful day... not 104 degrees... so I took a few minutes to wash her. This also gave me the opportunity to look over the few minor dings on the scoot.

There are a few wrinkles in the paint. Which I guess isn't really paint. Apparently it is more of a "wrap" than a paint job. The wrinkles don't bother me. They give her character.

The only scratches are from me dropping her. Bill had parked her under the roof overhang during a huge hail storm & the next day it was a little harder getting the scooter out than putting it in. I got off balance & dropped it. No biggie. It is not too visible at all.

I also spent a good amount of time pondering the reason for this little doo-hicky. Is it for locking your scooter up? Can you imagine that? Chaining your scooter up to a bicycle rack?

MPG Report

If I'm going to have a scooter blog, then I need to post about my gas mileage. Right? Right!

I keep a pretty good record... got myself a nifty excel sheet for tracking. But for the blog, I'm going to start fresh.

I filled up the tank this morning at the Stripes/ Town & Country on the Loop & Thomason.

Mileage on scooter: 1466.1
Premium Gas: 1.379 gallons @ 2.659 PPG

Total spent on gas: $3.67

Jealous yet?

Stay tuned for my fill up reports!
